- I recently made a blobby mercury button for a multimedia project. The specs were to make
- it 'blob' up and down when depressed, oscillating a bit before settling down again.
-
- I first made the 'blob' using half a tesselated sphere and the magnet tool.
-
- Save undeformed blob.
-
- Then deform it to the depressed position, again with the magnet.
-
- Save as a morph target.
-
- In layout, setup the morph, and use the metamorph envelope to make the wobbling motion.
-
- Off the top of my head, it was 100& reflective, 0% diffuse, and I think I used the VT4000
- logo screen as the reflection map. I think ultimately I'll use a screen grab as the
- reflection map so it looks like the button is sitting on the screen.
-
- It came out really well, and also looks good in regular shiny surfaces.
-
- If you like, I can send you the scene file.
